Black Water Falls. Roaring from 15'' of snow melt.

Buzzard riding the thermals over Black Water Canyon.

Dolly Sods, a bog atop a mountain plateau at 3800 feet above sea level.

Thick bog ferns and mosses.

Bog ice pond.

Headed way out in to the big WV Saturday for a hike in the bogs at Dolly Sods. Very cool place. After the bog we drove into Davis and checked out Blackwater Falls and Linde Pointe. Grabbed some pizza in town and winded our way back down to VA. Sunday was a scavenger hunt in D.C. We lost, but figured the other groups overachieved to much to truly grasp the fun in the exercise, thus turning pleasure into work and failing to keep it cool. Busy weekend.

Jesse thanks for coming on the bog hike. For those curious, its name is Fisher Spring Run Bog. There are no trails to it, we bushwhacked in and out. Nice to have a warm late April day with some snow around but be in short sleeve shirts, in a bog that is entirely surrounded by spruce and fir trees. Let me know if you go there again, please. I suggest you go when the bog is greener - from late June to the beginning of Oct. I find August is nice there - the Oceanora are blooming then. In October you can pick & eat the often bitter cranberries. Try to minimize your impact there please. There are some spots there I didn't have time to show you.
nice shots man. beats my weekend of stuyding.
Gorgeous pics! I want to go to WVA next time!
Beautiful pictures jess, hope to see you this weekend. Maybe we can go on a hike or something.
