Smoke & Fog

Arenal was lost in fog, mist and smoke while we walked over its lava flows from eruptions past. Red hot boulders could be heard through dense clouds crushing down the volcano. Crossing vast lava flows we once again ducked into thick rain forest. Howler monkeys screamed and cast sticks down at us from high canopy perches. An eyelash viper coiled, waiting on a branch near the trail. A pair of Tucans quibble above our heads as an endless stream of leaf cutter ants carry their spoils over our damp path. The most perfect sound of two high and erie violin notes drift and curve through the cloud forest. This hidden birds' tune hangs in the air just long enough to question weather, if by some chance, you could actually see this sound slip across still fog or breath it in and feel it pulse through your veins.
